On Friday of last week, I finally turned in my technical drawings, renderings, and models for the Black & Decker Hedge Trimmer. It took me until 5:00 in the morning but I finally finished.
Now, there were a few things here and there that I felt like needed some serious change. For one, the handle was not comfortable in the slightest. Number two, The power cord always seemed to get in the way. Three, the guard just wasn't good enough. (I could just see myself slipping my dainty fingers in between those sharp blades.)
So as you can see here, minus the poor rendering toward the guard and forward grip, I added a swiveling feature onto the power outlet. For all the left handed folks out there, you can turn the power outlet to whichever side most comfortable, depending on the angle being used. And the same goes to right handed people. The power cord always seemed to be in the way at some point, so why not set it at a 45, 90, and 45 degree angle. Just pop that baby into place and you're good to go.
Below are my illustration demonstrations for the use of the hedge trimmer itself and how handy that swivel power outlet surely can be. On the left, a man holding the trimmer with his right hand, above his head and the power cord is clearly out of the way. In the middle, a man holding it much lower with his right hand, and it is still clearly out of the way. But to the right, we have a man holding it with his left hand at a medium level and the power cord is still out of the way. It's a win-win for everyone.
