Fall Semester Studio: The Auburn Oaks Project.
We were approached by Auburn University to design an exhibit for the Auburn Oaks, a beloved pair of trees that were poisoned by a distraught fan, and when the trees were cut down in 2013 they were placed in the care of our Horticulture Department. We were asked to memorialize the trees in a way that would be educational and bring back all of the wonderful memories that the trees gave our Auburn family.
On the side, we were asked to design products to be made from the wood. After several rounds of development, we presented a line of wooden products that ranged from jewelry, household items, keepsakes, and every day functional pieces.
